Our client asked us to provide the most cost effective solution for acoustically treating both live rooms and control rooms at the Future Skills Centre at Media City (Salford, Manchester).
These studios also doubled as class rooms where students where required to engage in critical listening, so particular attention needed to be given in ensuring that the class rooms maintained a balanced sound regardless of the listening position.
We made an initial site survey to observe decay times, room responses and then offered a tailored solution that satisfied both the budget and acoustic needs of the environments identified for treatment. Once our client was happy with our proposal for room treatments (a combination of Acoustic Panels, Bass Traps, Soffit mounted corner chunks and Broadband Absorbers), a date was then set for installation, and the manufacture of acoustic treatment began. This included soffit bass traps, acoustic panels, broadband absorbers and custom sized bass traps.
We arranged the delivery and handling of all acoustic treatment from our factory to site, and our team of installers then begun fitting each room according to the specification within the acoustics survey. Due to all the rooms being used within the week for lessons, we agreed to install all treatments at the weekend to minimize disruption. Close attention was paid to the sites health and safety policies and the risk assessments within our method statements which where supplied prior to the installation.
We liaised with our client and their customer throughout this project to ensure that they were happy with the work and solutions offered by CM Acoustics. Once the rooms had been treated according to the specification set out within the survey, a further room response test was taken. We then provided the results to the customer and also spent time with them observing the difference that the treatment had made to the studios and class room acoustics. This project was completed within the budget set out and on time.
